The Milwaukee Brewers are the 2026 World Series champions. They beat the Tampa Bay Rays four games to one and closed it out with a 4-1 win in Game 5 at Tropicana Field on Wednesday, Oct. 28. It is the first World Series title in the history of the franchise, and catcher William Contreras was named Series MVP.

The win capped a season in which Milwaukee led the majors with 103 regular-season wins and went 11-2 in the postseason, including a four-game sweep of the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. For the Brewers' current schedule and results, see the Milwaukee Brewers team page.

What were the scores of each World Series game?

Game Date Result
1 Fri, Oct. 23 Brewers 3, Rays 2
2 Sat, Oct. 24 Brewers 5, Rays 4
3 Mon, Oct. 26 Brewers 10, Rays 1
4 Tue, Oct. 27 Rays 4, Brewers 3 (12 innings)
5 Wed, Oct. 28 Brewers 4, Rays 1

The Rays' only win came in a 12-inning Game 4. Every other game went Milwaukee's way, and three of the four Brewers wins were decided by three runs or fewer.

How did the Brewers win Game 5?

Jacob Misiorowski set the tone on the mound with 5 2/3 scoreless innings of two-hit ball before leaving with a cramp in his right calf. The Brewers broke the game open in the sixth: Christian Yelich was hit by a pitch, Contreras doubled him home, and rookie Cooper Pratt's sacrifice fly made it 4-0.

Tampa Bay's only run came in the ninth, when Chandler Simpson doubled to score Liam Hicks. It was not enough to send the Series back to Milwaukee.

Who stood out for Milwaukee in the Series?

  • William Contreras won World Series MVP, becoming the eighth catcher to receive the award.
  • Cooper Pratt had two more hits and two RBIs in Game 5 and set a World Series rookie record with six straight hits.
  • Jackson Chourio collected 11 hits, a record for a five-game World Series. He also drove in Pratt with a seventh-inning single for an insurance run in Game 1.
  • Jacob Misiorowski opened Game 1 with a 103.5 mph fastball, the fastest pitch ever thrown in a World Series.

How did Game 1 set up the Series?

The Series opened at American Family Field in Milwaukee on Friday, Oct. 23. The Brewers held on for a 3-2 win when closer Trevor Megill struck out Jonny DeLuca with two runners in scoring position to end the ninth. That narrow win, followed by a one-run Game 2, gave Milwaukee a 2-0 lead before the Series moved to St. Petersburg.

How did the Rays reach the World Series?

Tampa Bay won the American League pennant by beating the Cleveland Guardians 4-2 in the ALCS. After losing Game 1 7-3, the Rays won four of the next five, finishing with a 7-3 win in Game 6 on Oct. 19. Their season record and current schedule are on the Tampa Bay Rays team page.

Why does this title matter for Milwaukee?

The franchise started in 1969 as the Seattle Pilots and moved to Milwaukee in 1970, so 2026 was its 58th season. Its only previous trip to the World Series, in 1982, ended with a Game 7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals after the Brewers led in the sixth inning. Milwaukee's only other MLB championship came in 1957, won by the Braves, who later moved to Atlanta.
